The Fascinating Function of the Vagus Nerve in the Practice of Osteopathy

The Fascinating Function of the Vagus Nerve in the Practice of Osteopathy

Philippe Druelle, D.O.
Prerequisites

D.O.M.P., D.O., 4-year students and up

This course is very useful for our patients and our practice to fight pain and inflammatory process, stimulate the immune system and restart the health mechanism and self-regulation.

The vagus nerve is a mixed nerve, sensory-motor, and parasympathetic.

Presentation

The vagus nerve is a protector of health, a harmonizer, and a channel of dialogue between the brain and the organs in both directions. Considered as the 6th sense, it informs us about our inner life, its needs, and the expression of our balance. It is in relation to about ten different locations in the brain. Omnipresent, it is the masterpiece of the parasympathetic system.

Objective

The participants will be able to apply the methods learned during the course with their patients. They will also be able to strengthen the action and stimulate the functions of the vagus nerve, fight against inflammatory phenomena, pain, and boost the immune system, etc.

Course flow
  • A one-hour presentation on its functions and where it is most vulnerable. New scientific discoveries on the role of the vagus nerve. How to interact with this system directly and indirectly. The vagus nerve is a nerve of the central chain and master of the plexuses.
  • The relationship between the orthosympathetic and parasympathetic systems and the clinical symptomatology we must verify and evaluate.
  • Clinical practice and methodology at the solid matrix and fluid flow levels and in resonance with stillness. Therapeutic indications for each level. The vagus nerve and the breath of life and more precisely the life field.
  • Vulnerable areas to be assessed and treated.
  • The Cannon-Böhm zone - relationship with the brain, the sympathetic and parasympathetic system. The internal balance of the person in relation to the psychosocial, emotional, and metabolic environment in protocols 1 and 2. The role of the vagus nerve at the social level.
  • Restore the balance between the patient's inner world and the environment.
  • Brain-heart and the vagus nerve.
  • Brain-mesentery and vagus nerve.
  • Brain-uterus and the vagus nerve.
  • Practices on the vagus nerve stimulation and inhibition, indications and contraindications, and the different methods.
Objective

Learning to work well with the vagus nerve in our daily practice brings great satisfaction. The objective of this seminar is to teach you how to relieve patients with acute, chronic, and complex pain. Philippe Druelle began discovering techniques and methods to normalize the vagus nerve and the Cannon-Böhm zone at the same time as he developed methods to heal the brain in 1982.

Teaching and learning methods
  • PowerPoint presentation
  • Practical demonstrations
  • Practice sessions after demonstrations
  • Validation of palpation and work methodology
  • Encourage the student to reflect and discuss the concepts presented and compare their perception of their practice with the information learned during this course.
Speaker

Philippe Druelle, osteopath, professor of osteopathy for 40 years, and much appreciated international lecturer will share his knowledge and experience with the participants with great generosity and will bring solutions in this very useful field. His work focuses on the dynamics of the brain and the interrelationships between the central nervous system, the vagus nerve, and the brain. He has done several types of research in Russia on the brain self-regulation system and on the physiology of the spinal cord.
